Discover the Saussurea Botanic Garden
The Saussurea Botanical Garden reopens on Saturday 21 June.
The garden is located at 2175 metres above sea level and is among the highest gardens in Europe.
Its name derives from the Saussurea alpina flower named in honour of the Genevan scientist Horace Benedict de Saussure who was also the promoter of the first ascent of Mont Blanc in 1786.
The garden extends over 6500 square metres and hosts a rich collection of Alpine plants from the Aosta Valley, Italy and mountain ranges from all over the world.
The over 900 species are housed in rock gardens, divided according to geographical origin, and natural high-altitude environments.
This summer will be marked by many educational workshops and meetings to delve into the world of Alpine nature at high altitude.
All holders of a valid ticket for the ascent will be able to visit the garden for free.
