The marmot's den opens at 2,173 meters
A new space designed for young explorers, blending nature, play and discovery.
At 2,173 metres above sea level, at the Pavillon station, the Marmot Den is born—an experience designed for children, yet capable of fascinating anyone who still has a sense of wonder.
It’s an underground educational play area entirely inspired by the world of marmots—silent and curious inhabitants of our mountains.
Through tunnels, hidden spaces, and secret passages, children (and adults too) can literally enter the den of this alpine animal, learning about its rhythms, habits, hibernation, and connection with the seasons.

The Den is also about fun, movement, and imagination: a place where you can climb, crawl, hide, and—like a real marmot—suddenly pop out from a transparent porthole that opens into the meadow.
A chance to see the world from a different perspective: that of a true mountain dweller.

The installation was built using natural and recyclable materials, thanks to the collaboration of local studios and artisans: Officina 82 for the design, Nuova Sicmi for the metal structures, Studio Arredi for the wooden parts, and Jean Marc Chanoine for the earthworks.
Inside, visitors are welcomed by a bronze marmot sculpture created by Florentine artist Vincenzo Romanelli. Outside, wooden marmots by Aosta Valley artist Siro Vierin invite you into this journey of nature and imagination.
